Florentine Kaleidoscope
Florentine Kaleidoscope
  Florentine Kaleidoscope by: Cheryl Brown

This quilt was made from a Robert Kaufman pattern created to showcase their Florentine line of fabric. The matching stripe was perfect for the borders. I used EQ to try out several colors of corner settings and saw that the blue would make the quilt “pop”. Imagine my thrill when it won a blue ribbon for machine quilted quilts in the 2009 Florida State Fair, my first entry in a judged show.

I use EQ to preview all of my ideas and love the Fussy Cut and Rotate Fabric features for my favorites, kaleidoscopes.

Mark & Patti Anniversary
Mark & Patti Anniversary
Mark & Patti Anniversary by: Carol Skrube

I just got this quilt back from my daughter for our local Quilt Show this weekend and thought I'd send it in to you. I made this for their 10th anniversary last Oct. I scanned in my fabrics so they are the same. The idea is from the book Fabric Silhouettes by Louise Handley and I think I had the perfect photo for the quilt. I was happy with the finished product and so were my daughter and son-in-law.

Scrappy Blue Stars
Scrappy Blue Stars
Scrappy Blue Stars by: Pat Quinn

I pulled out all my blue fabrics and turned them into a completed quilt! I used every blue fabric I own and ventured a little into the purples and aquas for sparkle. For many more pictures and all the details see this blog post...

Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue
Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue
Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue by: Frieda Grischkowsky (Stillwater, OK)

I want to share with you my project file and picture of the quilt for the cat quilt I made for a donation quilt to benefit "Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue". This was for a lady in our town who takes in abandoned kittens, raises them, has them neutered, and then adopts them out. It is a tremendous job she is doing. I raised a little over 200$ for the quilt. I had a lot of fun embroidering the cats; the designs are in the photostitch technique from Advanced Embroidery designs.

Chevron Star
Chevron Star
  Chevron Star by: Marjorie Rhine

I started with a traditional double-wedding ring block from Electric Quilt. I did a 'convert to guides' then started drawing straight lines over the curved lines until I came up with a block that, when colored and set into a quilt, made a quilt that looked very much like a traditional double-wedding ring. I took care to make sure that the block could actually be pieced. Using this block as a starting point, designed a series of virtual quilts by adding and subtracting lines. I tried to retain the curved-appearing lines in each quilt.

Parts of the quilts are strip pieced, many have foundation pieced sections, while others are rotary cut and pieced using innovative methods. Chevron Star is strip pieced and with innovative elements.

The Chevron Star pattern is available in the September 2009 issue of American Quilter magazine (page 72).

Dancing Bear
Dancing Bear
  Dancing Bear by: Ingrid Eichstedlund

It all started years ago with a piece of yellow fabric. What to do with it? And I wanted to do a babyquilt. I found the bear in a colorbook for children and asked Rita Denenberg to show me how to draw it in patchdraw. She kindly showed me and I could use it also in EQ to see how many bears and where to place them. Much easier to see it in EQ. I ended up with this quilt. And it was given to Rebekka Agnes for her birth later on. The flower fabric is scanned from the real fabric.

for Lilian
for Lilian
  for Lilian by: Ingrid Eichstedlund

The pattern I used is called Dizzy Dougnuts. Very easy and fun to do. This is the quilt I made for my neighboor, Lilian, who got breast cancer 5½ years ago and now it came back and she is now on treatment for cure - hopefully. I thought she should have this quilt, which is very bright and joyful on the front. She loves black with bright colours. On the back I appliquéd hearts with little "letters" from her family, friends and a few neighboors also. She uses it every day.

Honeymoon in Ireland by: Sara Woodward

This quilt was made with EQ Printables InkJet fabric (standard and wide format sizes). The block piecing was inspired by Mary Ellen Kranz's "blending photos with fabric" technique. The hand painted fabrics are from Mickey Lawler's of Skydyes.
