This is one of my favourite variations on the scone recipe - adding cinamon and brown sugar (mmmm). The embroidery designs are from a collection of baking tools.

This quilt would make a nice table cloth for a casual afternoon tea.

Poor Dick! It looks like he has a bad case of measles. In fact, spotted dick is a sponge pudding usually served with custard. It is a classic English winter pudding. The "spots" are the currants and sultanas in the sponge which is made with suet rather than butter or margarine.

Guildford, England

Plum Duff is the old fashioned name for Christmas Pudding. It may seem rather early to be thinking about Christmas, but Christmas Pudding is one of those things that gets better with age. It is traditional to make it months in advance and "feed it" with brandy or whisky in the lead up to Christmas so that on the day it is rich and extremely tasty!

A simple rail fence design for a simple tray bake recipe ideal for selling at your quilt guild show.

I'm an enthusiastic home cook and try at least one new recipe a week. I also try to keep things healthy so we eat a lot of salads. The combination of ingredients (avocado, mango and shrimp) in this recipe seemed a little odd to me, but one Saturday, having all the ingredients on hand I made it. We loved it and it is now a recurring favourite in the summer.

Shake and Make Ice Cream

This quilt is inspired by the Key Lime and Coconut Cake recipe that I only recently discovered but have since made twice. It is an excellent wee cake of only one layer, and it is full of flavour. I substituted regular limes as Key limes weren't available.

I used pineapple cross blocks with Hawaiian applique 5 corner blocks around a chicken. The green is for the lush greenery of Hawaii (and the green peppers in the recipe). The yellow is for pineapple! This is one of my family's favorite dinners.

Original quilt design

Three generations of my family have been making pulled-taffy since finding the recipe in the Watkins Cookbook of 1936. It's really tasty, but you need many strong arms to pull and stretch clumps over and over again until finally long 1/2 inch strips are laid on wax paper to harden.

I couldn't figure out how to draw a prune and was ready to give up but Penny said I could submit a prune-colored quilt so here it is. Maybe your insides would feel like this if you ate too many prunes, but the cake is very moist and tasty!

Most of the blocks came from EQ.
I arranged the Birds looking for Jam.
I colored the birds some of my
favorite jam flavors-Raspberry, peach, blueberry and strawberry :-)

Colorado

The blocks that make up this quilt are Corn and Beans and China Plate. These muffins are tasty and moist - a favorite at our house.

South Seas Salad has strawberries, kiwis and pinapple on a bed of lettuce! Strawberry and Kiwi motifs were used from the EQ6 Motif library, along with pinapple blocks and a lettuce green background.

Text in Layer 2 is Monotype Corsiva.
I used EQ blocks and motifs.
I like to make freezer jam because it tastes like fresh fuit. This recipe can even be done with frozen fruit all year long. It is easy to mix up and makes a great gift!

Christine Thresh Baby Food Jar Paper Piece Pattern.
I used blocks and motif from EQ. Text style is Harrington set in Layer 2.

While learning to make freezer jam and trying recipes I tested this ratio to see if I could get a more intense grape flavor to the jelly. It worked. It's easy and makes 3 (8 oz.) jars at a time.

For the spaghetti, I just used some of the "grapes and vines" motifs in EQ6. I just rotated and moved them so that they would line up.

A little play on the title of my recipe, as the surprised tuna lands in the boat. I traced images of tunas to create the patch draw motifs.

This recipe is quick, easy and low fat.

This is an easy to make, delicious and fairly healthy recipe. It tastes great either hot or cold and is perfect for picnics and packed lunches.

This is a favorite pie of my granddaughter and son-in-law. It is requested often. Sliced bananas are placed on a baked pie shell, creamy chocolate pudding top the bananas, cool whip covers that and dots of pudding are swirled into cool whip to give marveled look.

Southern Cornbread is a familiar and favorite food in the Deep South. It is made in a well aged and seasoned black iron skillet (the black background of the quilt). Self-rising yellow cornmeal is usually preferred for a tender yellow center, perfect of pats of creamy butter (the yellow and gold petals of the Rolling Plate from the EQ6 Classic Pieced block library, Stars category). Very hot grease in the skillet before the batter is poured in creates a rich golden brown and crispy crust (the outer petals of the medallion and quilt border).

My family recipe for Southern Cornbread is included with the Southern Cornbread EQ6 project file.
