Quilt was designed using the blocks
already in EQ6 and then just coloring it with colors instead of fabric. |

This dip is a low fat recipe which suits my granddaughter.

When the mood strikes you, make a batch
of Grammy's Deely-Bobs, fix a pot of Earl Grey tea and have a party
with your grandchildren around the kitchen table. |
Made from the Cool Mint Candy and Christmas Star blocks. I grew up just waiting for Christmas so Mom could make her butter mints. The mints require cold weather to make so they are always associated with Christmas. Mom's mother taught her to make the mints. I have Grandma Cheever's original recipe card, barely readable, framed with a photo of Grandma. |

Plum Cake is a Christmas tradition in our family,
although it is good any time. This cake is a hit any time I've served
it. The lemon glaze adds a great tart/sweet touch. This recipe came
from the lady who was my Sunday School teacher when I was 4. She was
a fabulous person and a great cook. I remember her with every bite. |
Tomato Cobbler comes from a family friend who was a wonderful cook. It is a great way to use up all those tomatos from your garden in the summer but is also good with just canned tomatoes. If you like tomatoes, you will love this!

Mmmmm, is there anything better on a plate of sweets
than Nanaimo Bars (a west-coast Canadian tradition), with their chocolately
base, creamy custard filling, and more chocolate on top. The version
of the recipe I submitted was handed down to me by my Mom. You can
read about the history of this recipe on the City of Nanaimo website

I thought of the recipie for Lavender Cookies when
this challenge was posted. When I did a search for Lavender in the
EQ block library, I found Andrea's block from her Kaleidoscope Collection.
This lead to a search for pictures of lavender flowers used to draw
the lavender sprigs to make my wreath. The layout ifrom the EQ library
was ideal for my project, including the four long rectangular blocks
for the cookiemotifs. I changed the borders to match the triangles
in the Kaleidoscope block. |

One of my favorite recipes is a sandwich spread made from ground pork. My maternal grandmother grew up in New Brunswick, Canada. This dish goes back to those French Canadian roots. The center picture is a picture of the Fundy coast in New Brunswick near where my grandmother grew up. The maple leaves in the corners symbolize Canada. The flowers are clove and allspice - the 2 spices in the recipe.

Also known as Bow-Knots, Bow-Ties, Tea Twists, Crullers etc. and between polish US citizens as Faworki, Chrusciki or Chrust as well. Fat Thursday is a traditional Polish feast marking the last Thursday
before Lent. . Among the dishes served on that day But you can eat it every day! As I can!!! |
This quilt has the same colors as the recipe that goes with it -- if you use red pepper instead of green. The blocks used are Mosaic, No. 19 Variation and Mosaic, No. 5 (2) from the EQ library. I varied #19 even more for the outer blocks. Sunnyside, Washington |

I knew which recipes I wanted to send for this challenge but then I spent all kinds of time on quilt ideas that were just not turning out 'happy'. Finally, this one -- with a wreath based on the pie crust ingredients -- seemed to be acceptable. This quilt does not use EQ6 text letters. The font used in the block is from Gordon Cooper's last letter tracing project (thanks, Gordon!). It is Georgia Bold Italic. My recipe gives information for both sugar and sugar substitute. I make it with pretend sugar for my husband but I like it that way, too. Sunnyside, Washington |
This may not be a great quilt, but it is a great recipe. |
This time I set the blocks as a horizontal quilt for
a different look. Same ingredients. |
This tortilla appetizer features lettuce, roast beef
and cream cheese. While not specifically a family favourite, it lent
itself nicely to this block. It is an original block set in the baby
block style |
